Rules
ASD Napoli Running, under the patronage of the Municipality of Napoli, organises the 13th edition of the Coelmo Napoli City Half Marathon over a distance of 21.0975 km. The event is included in the WA, AIMS and FIDAL calendars.
The road race will take place in Napoli on Sunday 21 February 2027, with participants meeting at 07:15 inside the Mostra d’Oltremare exhibition centre and the race starting at 09:00 from Viale J. F. Kennedy.
Participation requirements for athletes registered in Italy
Under the FIDAL “Rules for the organisation of events”, athletes registered in Italy may participate from the age of 18 onwards (age based on year of birth), provided that they meet one of the following requirements:
- Athletes registered for 2027 with FIDAL-affiliated clubs;
- Athletes holding a Runcard (valid as sports insurance and a competition permit), limited to persons aged 20 and over (age based on year of birth), with a valid medical certificate for athletics;
- Athletes registered with a Sports Promotion Body (Athletics section), holding a Runcard EPS, limited to persons aged 20 and over (age based on year of birth), with a valid medical certificate;
- Fitwalkers registered with FIDAL or holding a FIDAL Runcard and a valid medical certificate for athletics. Otherwise, they may participate in the non-competitive relay;
- For Runcard holders, at least one copy of the medical certificate will be retained by the organiser;
- Athletes registered for 2027 with clubs affiliated with one of the following Paralympic Sports Federations recognised by the CIP (Italian Paralympic Committee): FISPES (Italian Federation of Paralympic and Experimental Sports) and FISDIR (Italian Federation of Paralympic Sports for Athletes with Intellectual and Relational Disabilities). Athletes must present a copy of their valid 2027 membership card or a membership declaration on the club’s headed paper, bearing the stamp and signature of the club president;
- For the safety of themselves and others, athletes with or without disabilities who compete using or pushing mechanical devices (strollers, etc.), as well as fitwalkers, will start from the last corral;
- Participation with a hand bike is not permitted;
- Pushers must be registered. A maximum of 20 pushers is permitted.
Participation requirements for athletes not registered in Italy
Athletes of non-Italian nationality may participate, provided that they meet one of the following requirements:
- They must be at least 18 years old and registered for 2027 with a foreign athletics federation affiliated with World Athletics. In this case, they must send a self-certification of membership at the time of registration to autocertificazione@napolirunning.com, or present and sign the document when collecting the race bib;
- They must be at least 20 years old and hold a FIDAL Runcard together with a medical certificate, which may be issued in their own country, provided that the same medical examinations required by Italian regulations have been carried out.
The medical certificate for non-resident foreign athletes may be issued in their own country using the template available on www.napolirunning.com and www.runcard.com.
Unregistered foreign athletes for tourist-sport purposes
Unregistered foreign athletes may participate in the non-competitive event without submitting a medical certificate, but will be excluded from the official results and prize awards. This type of participation requires only the completion of a self-certification (liability waiver form), which must be sent together with an identity document to liability@napolirunning.com.
Completion of registration requirements
Athletes with an IRREGULAR REGISTRATION, due to membership or medical-certification requirements, must provide the missing documentation before collecting the race bib by updating their status on the FIDAL portal, either directly or through their club president. If an athlete is suspended because their medical certificate has expired, presenting the original certificate does not constitute authorisation to compete.
In the case of incomplete registration, the athlete will not be able to collect the race bib and chip, but only the race pack.
Athletes competing with a Runcard who are suspended because their medical certificate has expired may regularise their status by presenting a copy of a valid competitive medical certificate for athletics.

Race bibs cannot be collected on Sunday 21 February 2027.
In accordance with the latest circular issued by the State Police concerning the organisation of public events, each registered athlete must collect their race bib in person and present an identity document. For public-order reasons, an athlete will therefore not be permitted to collect multiple race bibs.
The following exceptions apply:
- An athlete may collect no more than one additional race bib, as well as their own, by downloading the “individual authorisation” form from www.napolirunning.com;
- Club presidents must download and complete the “club authorisation” form from www.napolirunning.com.
Race bib collection for clubs is permitted only on Friday, by appointment.
Write to deleghe@napolirunning.com.
Starting corrals
At the start, competitors will be divided into six corrals (A, B, C, D, E, G). Race bib numbers will be assigned on the basis of the best personal time declared during registration and achieved over the half marathon distance within the previous 24 months.
Race bibs will display a sticker bearing the letter of the assigned corral. Athletes may not enter a corral other than the one assigned; failure to comply may result in disqualification.
Failure to declare a time, or declaration of an incorrect or untruthful time, will result in the athlete starting from the last corral. For the safety of themselves and others, athletes with or without disabilities who compete using or pushing mechanical devices (strollers, etc.), as well as fitwalkers, will start from the last corral.
A corral change cannot be requested after registration. Access to the corrals will open at 07:45, be supervised by race officials and close at 08:45.
The number and composition of the corrals may be changed at the organiser’s discretion or in compliance with instructions from the competent authorities.
When collecting the race bib, all registered participants will receive a wristband, which must be worn to access the services available during the event:
- access to the start and finish areas;
- use of refreshment services along the course and at the finish;
- access to changing rooms and toilets.
The wristband must be shown to volunteers or event staff when requested.
Race pack
Upon presentation of the race bib, the athlete may collect the race pack and all items included in the registration fee from the designated stand, exclusively inside the Expo. No delivery service is available.
Changing rooms and bag storage
Men’s and women’s changing rooms with bag storage will be set up inside the Mostra d’Oltremare exhibition halls, close to the start and finish areas. Entry is permitted only upon presentation of the race bib.
The organisation is not responsible in any way for items left inside deposited bags.
Refreshment points
Refreshment points offering supplements, water, fruit and energy drinks will be provided along the course and at the finish.
Time limit
The Coelmo Napoli City Half Marathon has a time limit of 3 hours and 30 minutes. Athletes who exceed the time limit must withdraw from the competition, remove their race bib and board the transport provided by the organisation. Athletes who choose to continue and refuse to use the provided transport will do so outside the competition, at their own risk, releasing the organisation from any responsibility.
A cut-off point will be established at 9.5 km for athletes who do not pass it by 10:40.
Athletes who exceed this cut-off time must withdraw from the competition and remove their race bib. Athletes who nevertheless decide to continue will do so outside the competition and at their own risk, releasing the organisation from any liability of any kind. Under no circumstances will they be included in the results.
Timing and chip
Timing will be carried out using electronic chips that record split and official times. The chip is personal and may not be exchanged. Competitors who fail to pass the control points will be disqualified. The chip attached to the race bib must not be removed for any reason, under penalty of exclusion from the results.
Timing and results
The measurement of times and the preparation of the results are validated by the Technical Delegate/Jury of Appeal and published on the event website and on the website of the selected timing company.
Each athlete’s time will be recorded electronically when crossing the start line, the finish line and the intermediate timing point at 10 km.
The final results, excluding elite athletes and positions eligible for cash prizes, will be determined on the basis of real time, i.e. the time recorded from crossing the start mat to crossing the finish mat.
For the application of gun time, athletes are considered elite if they have achieved the following qualifying times within the previous two years:
- Men: half marathon under 1:08:00; 10,000 m or 10 km under 31 minutes.
- Women: half marathon under 1:22:00; 10,000 m or 10 km under 37 minutes.
