I started running at 55. I never stopped!

I started to run at 55 years old, in July 2013.

In 2014, Athens was supposed to be my first Marathon. Ten days before, I fractured my left foot. But I decided to fly to Athens and I wanted to Start the race at least for 1 meter, 10 meters, 100 meters. I took the first step and … I didn’t stop until after 42 km. I cried, not because of the pain but for seeing the people on the road singing and encouraging me.

Since I know myself I like to make people smile and I do anything for this, so for seven years I make people laugh by playing in theatre comedies. I always run with a flower in my hand and a smile on my face. I even ran dressed as a Clown in Bucharest and Geneve.

I dedicate all my races to Hope, Love and People.

Sorrento Positano race was the chance to try reaching my unreachable Ultra Dream. My pace was of a turtle’ s one because my feet’s problems and semaphores, but my smile was as long as 54 km.

I used to jokingly say: “I am an UFO=Ugly-Fat-Old”.

This race made me to make a change: “UFO=Ultra-Fantastic-Optimist”

I am 62 years old, I ran 140 races till now (including 9 marathons and Sorrento Positano Ultra) and finaly I understood that we are as young as we want to be, just to be brave and try something new.

My next dream? The100 km challenge! And, of course, an…OSCAR! :))))”

Kind Regards,

Mirela Rusitoru

Sorrento is my first race outside the Czech Republic

I ran Sorrento Positano on December 6, 2020, 27.72 km in 3:17:49. I run regularly with Run Czech, which is organized very successfully by Carlo Capalbo. I have already run 4 marathons and many half marathons, etc. I am already an older runner, born before (1955), but in 2017, 2018 and 2019 I was Run Czech Star, because I managed to run the whole league. Sorrento is my first race outside the Czech Republic, so far only digital. If health allows, maybe we’ll see you at a race in Italy. I enclose photos. Best regards Lubomir

I fell in love with the South of the Italy

My name is Dagmara, I’m 40 years old and usually live in London.

I spent the last 16 years in England but inside my heart I’m still very Polish, very Eastern European.

I try to collect moments and experiences more than financial goods and dinner with my family will always have a better value than anything else.

I work as a nurse and running is my therapy, my escape, my happiness zone especially now.

I came to Italy first time in February 2019 to run Napoli Half Marathon and since then my life is not the same.

I fell in love with the South of the Italy, with amazing and kind people and beautiful places.

Last December I decided to try Panoramica 27km. My friends thought that I’m crazy because I hate hills and always avoid them on my training sessions. I was so scared but managed to run is without violating the time limit or nerves of the other runners. But the drama was there as I couldn’t believe myself what I’m actually doing. It was one of the best experiences in my life. I overcame my fear of hills, met amazing and kind people who helped me along the way and the views … well you have to run it to understand it.

This year I had my tickets booked for another Race trip but unfortunately Covid had a different plan for all of us. I signed up for the digital version of the race but looks like covid had another challenge for me. My recovery takes some time and my lungs won’t be ready for a race any time soon. I decided that if I cannot run it – I will walk it– slowly and over few good days but I’ll do it to be a part of this amazing event.

Thank you for showing me the beauty of your country, thank you for welcoming me with open arms and thank you for enabling me to meet many of my new friends. Happy Christmas and see you next year !!!

Kisses from London !

Dagmara

Because I love Napoli

Greetings to the run organizer

Why Napoli? I would like to run in Napoli but the situation does not allow it. I like Italy, the sea and the cordiality of the inhabitants. Every year we like to go to southern Italy on holiday and we will definitely come to Napoli to run as well.

Ciao Italia,

Milan

I'm running in the snow, but my heart is in Sorrento

I am Tim Warner.

I live in Scotland, in the countryside hills 30km from Edinburgh.
When I think of Sorrento I think of Christmas and running in beautiful winter sunshine with the spectacular Amalfi coastline and wonderful Italian runners for friendly company.
Oh – and the brilliant Sorrento musical Christmas tree, of course!

I first ran the 42 km course in 2015, repeated it in 2016 and then switched to the 27km Panoramica. I do not run much on asphalt, but Sorrento is a wonderful exception – such views!

So this 2020 Covid year, running has become a way of coping with stress even more than usual, and to be able to run and think in solidarity with the lovely Napoli runners has been brilliant. I kept warm inside, even though I was running through thick snow in the hills with my dog, my heart was in Sorrento.

This year has been hard for so many, but we can all look forward to running back in Sorrento for real next December.

Auguri, and slainte mhath a Alba, Tim

We ran at -14!

My wife and me ran in Kassel Germany at -14 degrees C today and a lot of snow on the tracks.

But we had much fun, even we were really slow: approximately 2:18 h for the Halfmarathon relay.

Our favorite running event is the Napoli City Half Marathon

Hi there, Our favorite running event is the Napoli City Half Marathon. We like it all: running through the beautiful city, the people, and the event and atmosphere. We especially liked it three years ago when the finish was in the Piazza Colombo. That was by far the best finishers’ zone!

That was the 3rd time that we participated in this event but unfortunately we couldn’t go to Napoli this time. But we’ll surely be meeting up there next year to do the run together! Saluti da Budapest, Ungheria!
