La Bottega dei Semplici Pensieri is a non-profit Voluntary Association set up by family members of people with Down Syndrome and/or mild intellectual disability that has been operating in Quarto in the province of Napoli since 2012.
The Association aims to identify the personal skills of young people in order to train them professionally and integrate them into the world of work. The activities insist not only on the attainment of certain skills but also on paths to autonomy, to ensure good social inclusion, in the world of work and in a future life outside the home.
The long-term goal is to transform La Bottega dei Semplici Pensieri into a structure that is above all a training school and a point of reference for those who, after completing their schooling, wish to enter the world of work. The envisaged structure should itself be a venue for self-sustainable activities run by differently abled young people assisted by tutors.
