ASD Napoli Running is organizing the 11th edition of the Sorrento Positano 2020.
There are two races:
- Ultramarathon 54 km
- Panoramica 27 km
The “Gran Premio Nastro Verde” award has been established for the half marathon distance. A timing check point will be placed at 21.0975 km mark. All athletes will have their intermediate time on the classic distance of the half marathon. The race will end at the start/finish portal in Sorrento at the 27 km finish line.
The initiative is open to the athletes registered for the Panoramica.
The “Trofeo della costiera” award has been established for the 50 km distance. A timing check point will be placed at the 50 km mark. The race will end at the start/finish portal in Sorrento at the 54 km finish line.
The initiative is open to the athletes registered for the Ultra.
Both races will start in Sorrento (NA), in Corso Italia (Piazza Angelina Lauro) street, on Sunday, December 6, 2020.
The start of the Ultramarathon will take place at 6:30 a.m.; The Panoramica race will start at 9:00 a.m.
PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENTS FOR ATHLETES REGISTERED IN ITALY
In accordance with the “Rules for the Organization of Events” issued by FIDAL, participation is limited only to athletes registered in Italy, aged 20 years and over, who are in possession of one of the following requirements:
- Athletes with valid membership at sport associations affiliated with FIDAL;
- Athletes in possession of a ‘Runcard’ (valid as sports insurance and permit to compete);
- Athletes registered with a Sports Promotion Organization (Athletic Section) and in possession of a ‘Runcard-EPS’.
However, Runcard holders must fulfill one of the following in order to participate must Present a valid medical certificate of fitness suitable for athletics, the original of which must be presented to the organizers and then kept, in copy, in the deeds of the organizing company of each event.
PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENTS FOR ATHLETES NOT REGISTERED IN ITALY
Italian/foreign athletes who are not registered in Italy may participate, limited to persons aged 20 years and over, if in possession of one of the following requirements:
- Athletes with a club card affiliated with the Foreign Athletics Federations recognized by World Athletics (WA). A self-certification document confirming the possession of a card recognized by the World Athletics (WA) shall be provided during the registration process. The self-certification will then, however, be signed in original when retrieving your start number.
- a FIDAL RUNCARD together with a medical certificate which may be issued in your country of residence.The following examinations must be carried out in accordance with the italian legislation: a) medical examination; b) complete urine examination; c) electrocardiogram at rest and after exercise; d) spirometry. The valid medical certificate of competency must be presented to the organisers. The medical certificate for non-resident foreigners may be issued in your country, using the facsimile available on www.napolirunning.com and runcard.com.
FOREIGN ATHLETES WITH TOURIST-SPORTS PURPOSES
Foreign athletes can also participate without sending a medical certificate, but filling the liability waiver form and sending it to the address email@example.com together with an identity document.
REGULARIZING YOUR REGISTRATION
Athletes with an IRREGULAR REGISTRATION will have to regularize their position before retrieving their bib number (valid membership and certificate) updating the FIDAL portal (either directly or through the president of the sport association to which they belong). In case an athlete is suspended due to an expired medical certificate, the presentation of the original document will not be deemed valid as an authorization to compete.
Any athlete failing to regularize his or her registration will not be allowed to retrieve the number bib and chip, only the start bag.
Athletes competing with a Runcard but suspended due to an expired medical certificate will be able to adjust their position by carrying with them a copy of a medical certificate for competitive athletics.

THE REGISTRATION FEE COVERS THE FOLLOWING
- race number bib;
- technical and medical assistance;
- official race pack for the event;
- refreshments along the course
- final refreshment;
- official program and information materials;
- chip and timekeeping service;
- route homologation;
- online diploma;
- participation medal (for classified athletes);
- bag deposit;
- cloack room service.
Online registration will close on December 02, 2020, or beforehand once maximum capacity is reached.
NUMBER BIB PICK-UP
The start number can be picked up at the Expo point in Sorrento on Saturday, December 5, between 10:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. and (except for participants of the Ultramarathon) on Sunday, December 6, between 6:30 a.m. and 8:00 a.m.
In accordance with the provisions of the latest State Police circular for the organization of public events, the collection of start numbers must be carried out personally by every single registered athlete upon presentation of an identification document; for reasons of public order it is not possible for any athlete to pick up number bibs for other runners.
Each athlete will be allowed to pick up at most one start number in addition to his or her own ONLY by downloading and filling in the “single proxy” form from www.napolirunning.com.
Heads of Sport associations will instead have to download and fill out the form “company proxy” from www.napolirunning.com.
Athletes may pick up their race pack by presenting their start number at the Expo point. The start bag can be picked up only during the same days and times of the start number pick up.
CHANGING ROOMS AND STORAGE
Men and women indoor dressing rooms equipped with storage areas will be set up in the immediate proximity of the start and finish area. Entry is granted only upon showing the start number.
The organization is in no way responsible for objects left inside the stored bags.
Refreshments will be provided at the start and finish, as well as along the course, in accordance with FIDAL regulations.
The Ultramarathon will have a maximum running time of 7 hours with a mandatory passage at the15km mark (S.Pietro junction) by 08:30 am, at the 35 km by 11:30 am (junction S.Agata sui due golfi). Exceeding the time limit obliges the athlete to withdraw from the competition and continue by means of transport prepared by the organization or to continue at his/her own risk, refusing the organization’s help, thus relieving the organization from any kind of liability and competing from that point on at its own risk and danger.
The Panoramica will have a time limit of 4 hours.
THE TIMEKEEPING CHIP
Your time will be recorded by means of an electronic chip which allows to also record the partial and the official times.
The chip is for personal use and cannot be exchanged. Any runner who will have failed to transit at any given checkpoint will be disqualified. Under penalty of exclusion from the rankings, the chip placed on the bib number must not be removed for any reason.
If the chip has to be returned (non-disposable types), the non-restitution to the organization, upon arrival, will involve a € 25 penalty towards the defaulting runner.
TIMING AND SCORING
Time measurement and processing of the rankings is done by Timing Data Service (TDS) srl anf will be published simultaneously on the website www.tds.sport; the same are validated by the Chief Technical Judge/Appeals Judge. The final rankings, excluding the placements that give the right to a money prize, will be processed according to real time (time of passage from the starting point to the finish line).

No cash prize (or equivalent: generic value vouchers, bonuses, engagements, reimbursement of expenses of any kind and any title) can be provided to “runcard” and EPS runcard (as per FIDAL regulation) holders. In this case, the athletes will receive only prizes of sport, food or craft type. The cash premium will not be paid.
Individual prizes in euro will be awarded by 01 March 2021, in accordance with current FIDAL regulations.
The athletes to be rewarded must fill in a special form indicating, in addition to the personal data, the details of an identification document. The form can be downloaded from www.napolirunning.com.
The first 20 men and the first 20 women regularly classified will be awarded with prizes in nature, and the top 3 classified will be awarded also with a trophy.
CATEGORY AWARDS for Ultra and Panoramica (not cumulative with absolutes prizes)
The top 3 athletes of the following categories will be awarded, on the basis of real time, with prizes of sports, food or craft kind:
Men Master Categories: SM23-34, SM35, SM40, SM45, SM50, SM55, SM60, SM65, SM70, and beyond.
The top 3 athletes of the following categories will be awarded, on the basis of real time, with prizes of sports, food or craft kind:
Women Master Categories: SF23-34, SF35, SF40, SF45, SF50, SF55, SF60, SF65, SF70 and beyond.
The prizes must be collected exclusively at the end of the race. Failure to collect on the same day of the race will result in a loss of the right to the prize.
PRIZES FOR SPORT ASSOCIATIONS
The first 8 associations, with a minimum of 15 athletes classified with ranking based on the number of athletes who will regularly cross the finish line, will be rewarded.
The following prizes will be doubled for sport associations ranked in the first eight positions with 30 athletes regularly ranked, and the following prizes will be tripled for sport associations that will rank regularly with at least 60 athletes.
The first association 250 €
The second association 200 €
The third association 150 €
The fourth association 100 €
The fifth association 75 €
From the sixth to the eighth 50 €
NAPOLI RUNNING TROPHY
The sport associations that, adding up their rankings in the events Sorrento Positano of the 6th of December 2020 and in the edition of the Napoli City Half Marathon of the 28th of February 2021m, will reach a total of at least 120 classified athletes and a minimum of 50 classified per event, receive an additional bonus of 500 €.
All participating sport associations affiliated to the FIDAL will compete for the rankings and for the prize pool reserved to them.
In the case of an ex-fair classification, the corresponding prizes will be added together and divided among the eligible groups.
The prizes to the associations will be paid by March 01th 2021, except for the bonus linked to the Napoli Running Trophy that will be paid according to the deadlines established by the regulation of the 2021 edition of the Napoli City Half Marathon.
RACE CANCELLATION OR CHANGE OF DATE
If the race is cancelled, or moved to another date and/or not performed for reasons not caused and/or not related to the will of the Organization, including revocation of the authorization to hold the race by the competent public bodies, the registered athletes waives any claim to ASD Napoli Running, including reimbursement of expenses incurred by registering; also waived are any claims for damages and/or compensation and/or reimbursement with regard to any current or future financial loss.
NUMBER BIB TRANSFER
It will be possible to transfer the bib number to another person
- For free by the 31st October 2020
- Paying a 5 € administration fee between the 1st November and the 25th of November 2020.
After these dates, no change will be possible.
A registration freeze is unavailable.

By registering for the Sorrento Positano, the athlete expressly authorizes Napoli Running organization to have the right to use any still or moving image in which he or she may appear when taking part in the race for all visual media, as well as promotional and/or advertising materials, produced and distributed throughout the world and for as long as is permitted by law, regulations, and treaties in force, including any extension that may be made to the allowed period of time.
The participant shall be responsible for the possession and safekeeping of his or her number bib, the exhibition of which guarantees the right to use all the services mentioned in these rules and any subsequent communications.
- Anyone who, without regular registration, participates without a number bib, in addition to being held responsible for damages to persons or property, including to himself or herself, will incur disciplinary sanctions within the jurisdiction of the federal bodies and may be liable for penal sanctions for the crime of “theft” (Article 624 Penal Code).
- Anyone who, without regular registration, participates with a counterfeit or otherwise not-compliant number bib, or with the number bib of others, in addition to being responsible as indicated above, will incur sports sanctions and also may be liable for penal sanctions for the crime of “theft” (Article 624 Penal Code), or, alternatively, for the crime of “fraud” (Article 640 Penal Code).
In both cases, a) and b), participants may be subject to penalties for the offense of “failure to comply with the provisions of the Authorities” (Article 650 Penal Code).
The athlete declares that he or she has read the competition rules and accepts its contents in its entirety. The athlete, therefore, declares that they bear all risks arising from participation in the event, such as those resulting from possible falls or impacts with authorized vehicles and/or with other participants, spectators or others, damage resulting from adverse weather conditions, the road surface, and any other type of risk, without exception, although not expressly referred to.
As a result of this disclaimer the athlete expressly exempts, in writing, the organizers and individual participants in the organization of the sports event from any liability for any damage or harm resulting from participation in the race and all activities during the two days of the event.
For the duration of the event there will be a medical assistance service and mobile first aid with on board defibrillator.
The event will take place regardless of the weather conditions and, in any case, at the discretion of the organization.
The Organizing Committee reserves the right to modify these rules at any time due to emerging needs and/or reasons that it deems appropriate for a better organization of the race. To the extent not provided for in this Regulation, the statutory technical standards of the FIDAL and IUTA shall apply. Any changes to services, places and times will be appropriately communicated through the website www.napolirunning.com
Any complaints must be submitted, in compliance with the FIDAL and R.T.I. rules, within 30 minutes of the official rankings, accompanied by a fee of 100 EURO which will be returned in the event of acceptance of the complaint. For any unforeseen aspects, refer to the FIDAL rules.
The Naples Bureau has jurisdiction for any disputes arising in regards to the application and interpretation of these rules.
UPON REGISTRATION ALL ATHLETES ARE CONSIDERED TO BE AWARE OF THE RULES. FOR ANY TOPIC OR ASPECT NOT COVERED IN THESE RULES, PLEASE REFER TO THE CURRENT FIDAL REGULATIONS.
FAMILY RUN & FRIENDS REGULATIONS
Immediately after the Panoramica race, the non-competitive “Family Run & Friends” 2 km event, which is without ranking and open to everyone will start, at 9:30 a.m. The event is free for children under 10 years of age and for adults over 65, everyone else will incur a €5 registration fee in order to participate.
